Thread: Mice and Mystics:: Variants:: Size comparison of Oathsworn Miniatures

Hi,

I painted my Sorrow & Remembrance base set a few years ago. My painting is not as showy as some of what others have done, but it's not terrible and looks good on the table to me. Then I bought some other stuff - Glorm, Downwood and Tail Feathers - but never had a chance to paint it up. I just started painting all that tonight, and now I'm on a painting kick.

I recently became aware of the line of Oathsworn minis, and I like them. Since Plaid Hat seems to have shelved the M&M and TF lines for now (sorry guys, stuffed fables is a little too Tim Burton for me and my children), I am thinking of buying some Oathsworn minis and making some custom material to use with my M&M / TF minis.

Before I buy, I am wondering if anyone owns some Oathsworn minis and could take a photo of some adjacent to their M&M / DT / Glorm or TF minis so I can determine whether the scaling is somewhat close between the two product lines?

Thank you

I don't have any of their anthropomorphic lines but here are a few from Sensible Shoes which should help some.

Well, you can always make any sort of house-rules you want.

If your team lost the chapter, you can decided to just restart it with any equipment, skills, and cheese acquired during the previous play through. That should hopefully make the next play through a little bit easier and alleviate disappointment at having to start over.

The official rules is that you simply start over with the items/skills that you had the first time you played the scenario. Anything gained or acquired during the first play is reset.

Edit 3: Still no responses, so I will add one more question from Ch 11:
In the "Story Moment", there is text about the Ring of Rememberance being 'lost'. But there is no mechanical instruction to discard it. And, I guess, part of the resulting story could have spat the ring back at Collin.
So, do you discard the Ring at this climactic moment, or not? This is critical to Collin's survival! ;)

We kept the ring in spite of the story moment since nothing in the rule text said to remove it.

In the end, it wasn't much of an issue for our group since once vanestra was gone, it was a walk in the park (with or without the ring/blade) to get out of there.* Vanestra didn't end up being as scary as predicted either since we took full advantage of being able to carry cheese and items from chapters 9 and 10 into chapter 11. We had everything we wanted out of the search deck and all the cheese.

You can get a lot done with 6 mice and Colin using Battle leader on turn 1 followed by Inspire on subsequent turns.

*That is, assuming we played correctly. We cleared the forge and the pipes and once in the water, just ran and scurried off the map since the rules seemed to state that both mice and minions could move across tile boarders in the flowing water. We didn't stick around to watch all those roaches and rats burn.

Isn't it ridiculously easy to escape once you're in the water by simply moving one space(as limited by movement in the water), scurry to move one more space and then being pushed by the current at the end of your turn making it 3 spaces per turn? You go through the last two tiles in 3 turns and you're done... Am I missing something? I haven't done it yet (tonight), so maybe you get destroyed by minions in those 3 turns, but something seems odd...

Cheers,

I think you're right. The first sewer tile can be basically skipped if mice scurry to the end of tile and then jump in the water to be pushed into the next tile. Especially if Colin is using INSPIRE.

I'd prefer space for one of the expansions instead of a dice tower, but there may not have been space for any of them either way.

It’s not quite Broken Token level quality, but it is nice. Works for the base game and Heart of Glorm.

Thanks for posting about this - that's a price that's hard to beat, honestly. The same store has other inserts and seems to have dungeon terrain as well.

I have it, it fits the game well. Things still need to be in bags if you store the box on its side though.

I actually am excited about the dice tower. I expected to have to store the expansions separate if we ever get them. My son and I were chasing dice while playing, so the tower should help manage that.

I reached out to the store to add on the 7 Wonders insert after I browsed around and their dungeon terrain looks amazing!

In chapter 1, for example, when you explore the flip space to get into the kitchen and then explore the flip space to get back into the tunnels... so I have another encounter or do I just continue with my quest? Seeing as I cleared the tile before I went to the kitchen.

You only have an encounter the very first time you explore onto a tile. Not if you revisit it later (for whatever reason).

Keep in mind though that when the last mouse (on the initative track) ends their turn on that tile, a cheese will be added to the wheel as there are no minions present.
If this cheese triggers a surge, it will spawn a surge minion (if there is a face-up card or a special surge).

Perfect! That's how I played it. When playing games like this, I usually try to work out the most thematic solution. And doing it that way made the most sense. I already cleared the room so I played it as such.

For my first game I was impressed at how quickly I was able to complete chapter 1. I had minimal questions while playing but most answers were found easily enough in the rule book.

The biggest problem rule-wise with Chapter 1 is how to navigate through the water, because everyone plays it wrong.
