I'm pretty sure that you can search for any scroll with a Special Search on that last tile. If you get the Levitate scroll (which requires only 2 lore), you can get up onto the shelf.

Thanks! That's good advice. We're not completely familiar with all of the scrolls and other search cards yet.

We actually had the fork in our party stash and forgot about it. We remembers and used it to get Collin up to the bookshelf to kill the rat, but Vurst ended up being our ultimate doom.

All scenarios are designed in such a way, that they allow you to finish it. Sometimes, the designer intention is quite hidden, though (especially with regards to "pick scroll of your choice"). Depending on your squad, you might sometimes find yourself in a situation like described above. Just learn the lesson and next time bring more ranged (Maginos!) power to the game.

We're at the last battle of chapter 3 with Collin, Nez, Lily and Tilda. There's one elite rat warrior on top of the bookshelf. Lily has been captured. None of the other mice can attack the elite rat, and it can't move off of the bookshelf. In order to win the scenario we must defeat all minions on the tile.

Do we have an impasse? Or is there a way to reach and/or defeat this minion that I haven't seen?

I play it that if the mice can roll a star on their turn while adjacent to the book case, it knocks one minion down. The point of the game is to have fun, not hit frustrating impasses.

Why do you not need to roll a star when exiting water? The rules says that the spaces the token covers is concidered to be adjacent for moving purposes. Why is the water rule ignored?

Who said anything about not having to roll a star when exiting the water?

It was mentioned when using the needle and thread that party item that you don't need to roll to get out of the water, but that's just when using the needle and thread.

Why not? It might not be that great storywise, but I don't see why you can't play it the way you want. Just that for certain adventures, such as the last couple of adventures in the first campaign, you might have to figure out who should be there.

In the first chapter in the sewer you get the fishhook from a special search on the space you start on. Using the fishhook from that tile saves you the trouble to move through two spaces of water. Instead you use it so you can move directly from a water space to a normal space on the other side of the sewer stream. I can see nowhere in the rules or FAQ that says that the spaces the fishhook is used from or to always is considered to be normal tiles.

It's been a while..and I don't have access to my storybook..but isn't Maginos required for Chapter 3?

Rules wise..there's nothing against it.

Make sure to remove anything story based, or that pertains strictly to rules in one of the expansions. Particularly in Downwood Tales, there are cards that won't have any effect in earlier stories, you probably want to remove those at least.

That said, I'd probably wait. I'm a fan of the gradual unfolding of the story, and I think the new characters/minions/cards are a big part of that.

It really does seem like a 'to each their own' situation though, do whatever you think you'd enjoy most.

I was talking about his skills :). Sure you can take Lily or Filch throwing daggers.

I'll have to look. If he is, I totally missed it. Wouldn't be the first time :)

We're going to be replaying it this weekend so whether or not the chapter requires Maginos I think we'll be bringing him along.

It says that if a boss minion arrives late it will ambush in.

What exactly are boss minions?
Only the ones with 2 cards?
