Thanks to everyone in this thread! This helped me get up the courage to attempt to play with neices and nephews! Can't wait to see what happens. :D

A good idea of what age group can really play this game without supervision would be to watch the Watch It Played game session. Luke Smith can handle himself and I'd think he's 7 or 8 in the video. He even catches a few of Rodney's mistakes during the playthrough. But as everyone has said, it's probably best to first show the kids how to play the game then let them go at it.

But even when played properly, Filch with the Accurate Bow is one of our strongest fighters. He always gets out of harm's way and just picks off the bad guys.
This is true but you're also rolling a figure that is still harder to get statistically than sword rolls. And the bow has to be found. It's a combination that works but is hard to put together without some luck.

Hi guys,

My question: Anyone out there have the paint and willing to paint up the minis fairly affordable? It'd obviously not be top-notch professional work, but just a couple of coats of paint to get the feel would be awesome. Once you have the paint and brushes, it's almost free for supplies

If you can do it, or know someone that can, can you let me know?

Although there are several very talented painters offering painting services that are quite reasonable given the skill and effort required, if you are looking for just a decent tabletop paint job I suggest you ask around at your local game store. You may find there are folks that like to paint but lack the skill to paint at a professional level who would be willing to paint the figures for you. In recent months, nearly all of my painting has been for gamers that want figures painted but are satisified with a tabletop level paint job. It works out very well since I can pursue my hobby without having to purchase figures to paint or the bother of trying to figure out what to do with the figures once they are painted.

Indeed they can.

Thread: Mice and Mystics:: Rules:: Brodie's starting point?

When Brodie appears do you place the paw token on the nearest foot print space? Or does he stay hidden until he has his turn on the initiative track? Also if you land 2 wounds on Brodie with a single attack, is he defeated? Or only remove one initiative card at a time?

Use the 'Large Minion' placement rules for Broadie. Just keep in mind that Broadie does not count towards a space's capacity. He can share a space with any number of mice or minions, so he could be placed directly into a space with a mouse (unlike other large minions, who can be blocked if mice occupy the minion entry spaces).

Each attack can only target one of the cards. So even if you get two hits in an attack on Broadie, you can only defeat one Broadie's initiative cards at a time. You must always get two successful attacks to defeat Broadie (excepting the Catnip, of course).

Based on you saying you only got hit once, I'm pretty sure you're playing the game wrong but I don't know how since you didn't give any details.

I seriously doubt it will be out in the spring of 2014. My guess would be it will be like Glorm was this year. Keep in mind, Downwood Tales has a lot more to it than Glorm did.

working as fast as we can, on the art side downwood has just as much if not more than the base set. it will be worth the wait :)
