If Filch has two daggers equipped and used Knife Strike allowing him to use multiple weapons does the dagger ability of lowering the defense die by 1 stack? So it would lower the defense die rolled by 2? Thanks in advance.

Knife Strike allows you to make an attack with each equipped dagger. You'll be making two attacks, and each attack will use the bonuses and benefits of each weapon, one at a time. So the result is that the weapon benefits cannot stack. The attack with the first dagger has the effect of reducing the number of defense dice rolled by the defender by one, and then the attack with the second dagger will do the same.

I tried that with 6 players (actually 7, I was playing the minions to lessen the rules explanation) on chapter 3 and they barely survived due to most of them rolling poorly and the minions rolling amazingly well. I thought of adding one small minion to each encounter cards as well but held off due to the guys having awful rolls. They had a lot of fun though.

So really all if will do is up your potential attack from 2 to 4 but its 2 and 2 not 4 all at once. am i getting that right?

Yep! You won't roll 4 dice. Assuming two daggers, you'll roll 2 dice and the minion will roll defense (with one fewer die if they're further down on the initiative track). Then you'll roll two dice again and the minion (same as the first or different, each attack can have a separate target) will roll defense again (with one fewer die if they're further down on the initiative track).

Knife Strike REALLY gets fun if you can find a third knife/dagger for Filch (which he can wield with his tail ability). Then it's THREE separate attacks per use! :^)

Awesome one last question. Do i decide who I attack before rolling die or can I see the outcome of the first attack to decide if I want to hit the same minion again or declare a new minion for the attack?

This happens on occasion and it is really awesome. Filch can tear through some minions if he has three daggers and is higher in initiative.

You need to declare those attacks before you roll.

Thanks for replying Jerry...What if the minion dies do I lose my other attacks? If I currently declared them all on the same target within the space?

Do each attack separately. You don't lose them unless you run out of targets. I like to have the throwing daggers as my last attack in case I don't have any melee targets left by the time I get to the third attack.

Ok so say I have a rat warrior and 2 roaches in my space. I want to for sure kill the rat warrior cause I have plenty of cheese incase I cant kill the roaches. Say I also have 3 weapons equipped. I choose to attack the rat warrior with all 3 attacks...I roll for the first attack and the rat warrior dies. Do I lose the other two attacks or can I then say well now I want to hit a roach?

You don't need to choose ALL of your targets before making your first attack. You choose EACH target before EACH attack roll.

In this example if you killed the rat with the first attack, you could then go after a roach with the second. If you didn't kill the rat with the first attack you could use your second to go after him again. Likewise with the third attack.

Think of it as three separate attacks that happen in rapid succession, not one massive attack with all three weapons simultaneously.

I am just curious what you all took with the tinkerer's treasure and why you feel its the best choice. I decided to choose the thimble helm for Nez I felt like anytime a hero would be captured it was not because of minions but because I kept them hanging back doing ranged attack and searching rather than in the front lines and they always seemed to draw a treachery card....mostly poison cheese sealing there fate. This allowed me to ignore those cards in those cases and still gave the +1 to DEF bonus which makes Nez a beast!

So this came up the last game we had when we were helping Miz Maggie. Can Maginos see up onto the kitchen counter to shoot roaches either with his ranged attack and/or mystic bolt? Thematically it wouldn't make a lot of sense since the counter would be too tall but I couldn't find anywhere in the rules that said yes or no about red lines blocking LOS. I was wondering everyones take on how they handled this in Chapter 1.

We played it as he could not see up onto the counter but once onto the counter he could target any space on the tile. Thematically having higher ground in range would give you the advantage where as shooting from the floor he would just be shooting blindly up into the air hoping to hit somehting.

I usually go with the Thimble Helm as well. That +1 defense for Nez is great. I do also give strong consideration to the Scorching Wand for Maginos, though. Rolling that one extra die on attack is really important for the ranged characters, especially Maginos.

The rules do explicitly say that you should make your own judgments about what (if any) terrain features on the tile block LOS. While you're welcome to make whatever judgments you like as far as firing up onto 'high' terrain features, keep in mind that certain encounters were designed with the ability to take those shots in mind. Some encounters will be murderously difficult if you stick with not allowing ranged shots up there, but it's really up to you and how you want to play the game.

When I play I allow for ranged shots up onto the counter and other 'high' terrain features. This is easy to account for thematically if the minions are ranged. If they're shooting down at you, then you can shoot up at them.

I supposed it's a different question for the Chapter 1 Kitchen, since those roaches are sort of doing their own thing up there. I could see a special house rule for that encounter only being interesting. :^)

I like giving Filch a ranged weapon early on because he can have that equipped and still carry his dagger in his tail. That way you can still benefit from his ability to gain cheese even when the minions are out of reach. Once Lily joined the party he handed the bow off to her and went looking for a good defensive stuff like the Toothpick and Shifting Cloak.

You can see across red lines, you just can't move across them without some kind of party item or spell etc.

Hammer of Nandon for Tilda. It really ups her offense. Nez has a lot of things he can draw from the deck. Getting something for Nez is weak in my opinion.
