My husband and I got the game in the mail two days ago. Our first attempt on Trick-or-Treat night met with disaster primarily due to distraction and thus many missed opportunities.

So when we sat down to play it again, we were focused on beginning our Campaign (the Burns Duet) with gusto. I was a bit nervious given our previous failure, but also wanted to do the side quest. We agreed that if we were in good health and still on page 1 or 2 by the time we cleared the sewers that we would go for it. Success was with us, so it was with nervious excitement that we climbed the ladder.

Up we went with Collin determined to help Miz Maggie and Filch ready to run at the sight of so many cockroaches, but by then it was too late. As the cockroaches closed in first Maginos, then Tilda were captured having taken out only one of the eight cockroaches. As Tilda disapeared and the cockroaches closed in, a groan was heard from Filch as Brodie appeared.

"All is lost!" He cried, "There is no way!"
As Broadie charged, Filch looked on with interest as Brodie took out four cockroaches along the way. Hurt but not captured, Filch mumbled again "Now he's going to pounce, what am I going to do! There's no way!" But much to his surprise, Brodie prefered to pounce on a space other than his own taking out another cockroach.

In the brief hiatis, Filch looked in his sack for something...anything...to save him. From the depths of his otherwise empty sack, he pulled out his "Tattered Threads of Reason" that had hitherto gone unused as a confusing garment that "might be helpful at some point." From across the room the captured Collin called out, "Use the Maginos' Invisibility spell." With the aid of the Tattered Threads of Reason, (and after an unsuccessful swipe at Brodie) he was able to cast the Invisibility spell. Taking on the skill of invisibility, Brodie's charge took out the rest of the pesky cockroaches. Another cheese sacrificed to invisibility followed another unsuccessful swipe at Brodie. With nothing to pounce on, Brodie sat scratching behind his ear for a moment instead.

With no cheese left, Filch attacked Brodie again. His success was small, but his victory over the chase ricochetted off the rooms before the knowledge that Brodie could still pounce sank in. Cowering under his Tattered Threads that no longer provided protection, Filch waited for the inevitable.

But miracles still exist! And though knocked down, Filch remained alive, with only one hit from capture. He had to succeed. Fearing for his life, he attacked once more, and much to his surprise Brodie yelped and scampered from the room! Bragging and demanding much appreciation, Filch freed his companions, bore the badge of Cat Tamer proudly, and moved carefully to the back of the line and away from danger as they returned to the kitchen tunnels.

Thus ended the amazing story of Filch, the single handed Brodie Tamer.
