Seeing as Colby didn't manufacture and package each game himself and send it out, I'd say he was the one that got screwed here. He has offered to make it right and you tell him you don't want his help because you've "soldiered on" instead of accepting a fully working replacement. You didn't HAVE to make repairs. You chose to make repairs instead of asking for a replacement.
Colby has also said he isn't happy with results either. He seems to care and take pride in his games, up to and including responding to your concerns on a public forum. He said he will be holding the manufacturer and fulfillment agency responsible. Sounds like there might have been a disconnect or poor choice of partner agencies, but sometimes you don't know that until products are out the door. You make it sound like he personally (or even people in his immediate company) just disinterestedly whipped the games into boxes before slapping a shipping label on them. From all appearances, however, it sounds like there is more to it than that.
My copy was packed exactly like yours and came out perfectly fine, including the cards. It seems to me that your copy was a victim of the shipping system, and it happens. I've even had Amazon lose or damage things (which is also an unfair comparison, given economies of scale). I personally think it is a beautiful game, but on that you are entitled to your own opinion. I also think you get a lot of content with 11 adventures and actual miniatures, but again YMMV. $75 is a lot to spend on any game, but I am happier with this purchase than other games I have bought in its price range (Descent 1st ed, for example).
It seems to me, however, that if you don't want to either return the game or get a replacement and simply wish to complain, then you are just complaining for the sake of complaint. Or you are looking to get a rise out of people for fun. In either case, your continued postings on the subject are purely masturbatory.

Bull...never did I accuse Colby and his 'inner circle' of doing anything personally. But yes, I hold his company (no matter how many employees he does or does not have besides himself) ultimately responsible for what happens with a delivery. I didn't order the game from his fulfillment center. Colby will tell you himself that despite his efforts to get restitution from the shipping company the buck stops with him.
Go look at the website of the shipper. They appear to be a fairly major player. Plaid Hat aside don't you think THEY should find shipping a game like this unacceptable? And yet they did it. No one...while packing up...what? 1400 copies? thought 'Wow these things are going to get crushed' and did something about it?
Honestly most of the people defending him seem like they know him personally. And I suppose I would defend my friends in similar circumstances (although I'd also like to think I'd call a spade a spade if they were in the wrong) but that's why I don't mix business with friendship. I expect a certain level of quality with I have a BUSINESS TRANSACTION with someone.
And seriously...if you enjoy watching other dudes doing what you described...I'm not going to judge you...but most people would find that inappropriate. Maybe you should move on to another thread. My initial post was a first impressions post and my first impressions were 'meh'. Notice that no one is accusing me of LYING. I've accurately described how the game was shipped to me, and my opinion is my opinion.
