My son was playing this a couple of months before he turned 5.
He has a really good atention span, and he knew what he needed to roll, and what all the symbols meant.
Being a co-op obviously makes it much easier to hand hold too :-)

I agree with you 100%. I would encourage parents to be carefull not to "dominate" the game though, which is very easy in co-op games when you have a person with a dominant personality or even just experience gaming.
With my family, we have a house rule where we conduct a "war council" before any mouse's given turn. We go clock wise around the table and everybody gives a quick suggestion on a turn. Yes, it slows things down sometimes, but everybody feels involved in the game and nobody feels like they are getting bossed around. I also would suggest letting other players make mistakes. Most kids do a good job of learning from mistakes in a game like this. After Chapter 1, my kids do an EXCELLENT job of moving mice together as a group. ;) Heck, I've been shocked at some of the clever ideas my kids have come up with to solve some sticky problems. I'm easily the most experienced gamer at the table, but I feel like everybody pulls their weight with the decision making.
