I, too, am thinking about taking the plunge and getting in to painting, just for these minis...
Jerry, you mentioned Testors spray paint as your base layer. The only Testors spray paint I've been able to find is listed as an enamel paint. Is that the correct kind?
When you spray painted the base coat, did you do them all at once, or one at a time?
How will an enamel paint impact things if I decided I need to strip the minis down to start over?
Thanks!

Not sure if this thread is getting anyone's attention anymore, but I'll try...
I just got my copy, finally. I've made mistakes with primers, hopefully I can keep others from making the same:
Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Gray Primer found at Michaels--its called primer, must be what I want. Nope...doesn't stick to plastic at all. Sprays on nicely, but then simply holding the mini in my fingers is enough to remove the dried primer.
Testor's Gray Primer, #1237, labeled as enamel. For me, this sprayed on very thick and obscured details. It's a stinky, sticky mess too (smell brings back memories of my childhood failures to paint plastic models with Testor's enamel pots!)
Going the cheap, easily available route has failed me. I think ordering a mini-specific primer and paying extra for it would have been the quicker and cheaper way to go at this point. But then, with kids and busy life, I don't have the time to shop around for paints.
