So dry-brushing is often the last step on an otherwise finished paint job. This makes it a bit scary that you'll mess up previous steps.Tip: If you are scared, practice drybrushing on a "throw-away" unpainted mini or even your kids' toys. OR, if you have a brush-on primer or are skipping priming, practice dry brushing with the primer or whatever will be your first coat before you even start painting. It's great to see what effects drybrushing can get you when you have high-contrast paint and no fear of screwing up previous work.
Caveat: I'm a beginner too, with only a handful of minis painted previously.
